Breast Screening Information for All Provinces and Territories

All of the provinces and territories in Canada offer screenings for women aged 50 – 69. The eligibility for women outside of this age group varies from province to province and may require a doctor's referral. The list below indicates the eligibility criteria for screenings, but you should contact the program in your region for the most up-to-date information.

Please note: As of July 1 2011, the Ontario Breast Screening Program has been expanded to screen women ages 30 to 49 years who are at high risk of breast cancer. Less than 1 per cent of women in the general population are considered high risk. Talk to your doctor or nurse practitioner about getting a referral to an OBSP site if you are between 30 and 49 years of age and believe you are at high risk.
